Court Ordered Summaries

When therapy has been ordered to occur by a Court, it is called Court-Ordered Family Therapy. A Judge may request a summary be provided by the treating practitioner to report on the attendance, issues and progress of therapy or and provide information about a family who have engaged with therapeutic services at The Relationspace over a period of time.

A joint letter of instruction is required for the practitioner to consider a Court Ordered Summary or COS. This instruction provides the request, the purpose of the summary to be provided and confirmation of who is responsible for payment of the fee.

A Court Ordered Summary is typically 2-6 pages in length and a timeframe to produce the letter is on a case-by-case basis.
