Dr. Monique Phipps

 

 

Dr Monique Phipps is an experienced clinical psychologist with extensive skills in the assessment and treatment of complex mental health issues, trauma and substance abuse. Since obtaining her Master of Clinical Psychology in 2000, she has worked in public, private and NGO settings in the fields of community and acute mental health, substance abuse, homelessness, veterans and adolescent and family services and has provided expert consultation and reports in all these settings. Her work included 12 years at St Vincent’s Mental Health Service in Sydney.

Monique has a strong understanding of the impact of childhood events including divorce, attachment issues, parenting styles and trauma. While training to become a clinical psychologist she spent several years working with children with developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorder, including teaching at a school for children with autism.

Monique holds a PhD in Public Health from the University of Tasmania, a Master of Clinical Psychology from the University of NSW, a Bachelor of Arts (Honours in Psychology) from the University of NSW and a Post Graduate Diploma of Nutritional Medicine for Mental Health. She is a founding member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association and an AHPRA Board Approved supervisor. She is also a full member of the EMDR Association of Australia, a member of the Association for Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC) and Pacifica Congress.

Monique has several publications in academic journals and Family Law conference presentations. She has trained clinicians in hospital and private practice settings in trauma-informed care and has contributed to the development of mental health nursing courses for the University of Central Queensland.
