Rachel Brace
Rachel Brace is a nationally registered psychologist and children’s book author with over 20 years of experience supporting children, young people, and families through separation, divorce, and complex family transitions. She has worked across private, public, and non-government settings in New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Her broader professional background includes child protection, out-of-home care, disability services, and work with high-conflict family systems.
Rachel holds a Masters Degree (Social Science) majoring in Psychology and Behaviour Analysis, and has nine years’ experience as a Family Consultant (now referred to as Child Court Experts) within the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. She currently undertakes work as a Single Expert Witness, completing independent, child-focused assessments that inform parenting matters, safety and risk considerations, and children’s developmental and emotional needs within family law proceedings.
Rachel is the author of three children’s picture books - Max’s Divorce Earthquake, Harriet’s Expanding Heart, and Milly’s Parent Airport - which support children’s emotional literacy, resilience and adjustment to challenging family transitions. Through her Kinship Books website and blog, Rachel also shares evidence-informed insights for parents and professionals navigating divorce, shard care, co-parenting, and stepfamily life.
Rachel is available for professional speaking engagements on topics including children and divorce, the impact of high conflict on children, post-separation parenting, and stepfamily dynamics.
